Summary

This article attempts to report the situation of scientific libraries as reflected in t press in the years 1944-1949. The first period after Poland's liberation, i.e. the ye< 1944-1949, was characterized by the priority of the reconstruction of institutions a library collections. One of the major problems was the issue of damage in scienti libraries and actions aimed at improving these damages. The organization of the po war scientific librarianship was regulated by the decree of April 17, 1946 about librari and care of library collections, which established the national library network compr ing public, school and scientific libraries.
