The article discloses changes introduced into the information agencies market in Poland after the
fall of the socialist system. The first group of changes encompasses the current transformed monopo-
lists: The Polish Press Agency, The Central Agency of Photography and The Polish Agency „interpress”
connected with the democratization and modernization processes of these institutions. The second cat-
egory of change concerns the founding and development of new units in the Polish press agency mar-
ket, among them, The Catholic information Agency, The Radio information Agency and The Television
information Agency.The contemporary information agency market in Poland is gearing towards a far
reaching move for specialization while maintaining its dominant position as the Polish Press Agency in
the area of general news bulletin.
