Numer | 8 |
This publication is the third part of the entire cycle dealing with the history of the weekly magazine for women "Przyjaciółka" in the years 1989-2002. This encompasses the attempts of breaking out of the RSW "Prasa-Książka-Ruch", which the editors of "Przyjaciółka" started in July 1988 by creating a company "Oferta dla Każdego" (Offer for Everyone) and a foundation - „Wyjść na Prostą" (To get out of the Red). "Przyjaciółka" was opened for bidding, along with other weekly magazines, such as "Prawo i Życie" (Law and Life) and "Życie Gospodarcze" (Economic Life). The buyer was Oferta dla każdego, Co. Ltd. for 8 billion (old) Polish zlotys. During the next 12 years of independent economic activity, "Przyjaciółka" changed numerous times its editing staff, formula, which means: size of issue, size of the paper, kind of type, printers. All this caused that it became a cheap coloured paper for "the masses". The paper had one of the largest circulations (730,000-750,000 issues) and influenced a large segment of the population (31.9%). "Przyjaciółka" is read by women and men (30%). The editors continue a number of campaigns and create new active charities and the "»Przyjaciółka« Foundation", which takes care of 5,000 children from Children's Homes.
