Summary

Until 1914 there were no significant Polish film production companies. The history of Lvov film production begins with occasional films shown in local cinemas (e.g. In a Lvov Café - 1897; The Unveiling of the Monument of Adam Mickiewicz in Lvov — 1904). The more serious film production ventures included the First Galician Enterprise for the Production and Lease of Motion Pictures (Kinofilm), and on its basis were established the motion picture companies „Muza" and „Leopolia". These two companies released few feature and documentary films which were distributed in cinemas on the territory of Poland. They were created due to the fascination with this technical novelty of the Lvov photographers, owners of peep shows and cinematographs at their request.
