The first half of the 1970s was a period of increased activity of the Polish United Workers' party (PZPR) in the field of education and upbringing. It is evidenced by numerous documents from that period, which give detailed instructions about the tasks of media in the dissemination of "socialist educational ideals" and the creation of "proper" attitudes.
The magazines for children and young people in the first half of the 1970s show numerous examples of such an instrumental treatment of the press. The accepted educational model included besides features of universal character also "citizen's attitudes and "virtues", desirable from the point of view of the then policy of the party. Ability to be in a group and collective work, activeness, generosity, love of the country and patriotism are the features which were emphasized in the discussed newspapers. Acquisition of definite attitudes was meant to be an introduction to performing certain roles by the readers in adult life, which - in future - would yield their professional and public activeness.
