Summary

The article presents the initiatives of the Ministry of Religious Creeds and Public Education concerning a legal regulation of the situation of school libraries in the years 1918-1939. It briefly discusses the acts and instructions dealing with founding and maintaining school libraries as well as other related issues.
However, the article's main concern is to present recommendations on how to run school libraries, which were enclosed in "The instructions about libraries for schoolchildren in primary schools," published in intruction of the Ministry of Religious Creeds and Public Education of 1925, and to compare it with the one prepared by the minister of the Ministry of Religious Creeds and Public Education - the unpublished version of the regulations for libraries in public schools from 1939.
