Summary

The article contains the characterisation of three newspaper titles coming out in Kielce: two independent regional dailies -"Słowo Ludu" and "Echo Dnia" and the local issue of "Gazeta Wyborcza." Referring to history, the author discusses the conditions of functioning of each title on the present press market. The main problem is to show a different outlook of editorial committees on the same reality. A detailed analysis of the contents and merit of the three selected issues of each title proved the lack of journalistic reliability when presenting the facts and describing events and a considerable influence of the editors on the merit of the dailies.
