Summary

The magzine "Cogito" is a general scientific periodical addressed to students in the secondary
school, especially candidates for the secondary-school certificate. The question of the educational func-
tion fulfilled by "Cogito" was elucidated in the article as it constituted the dominating role of the
periodical. Editors and co-workers help readers in their preparations for the secondary school – cer-
tificate examinations. They focus their attention mainly on the school certificate examination in Polish
language. "Cogito" engages, on a large scale, in activities designed to popularize reading. The editorial
board promotes films shown in cinemas and on DVD as well as recordings of pop music.it does not
overlook the exigency of fine arts popularization. it promulgates readers own creativity. The editorial
board propagates magazines not only in printed form but also through the internet, the internet bookss-
