Summary

The new political system, which was shaped after World War II, included assumptions that the newspapers should be engaged in delivering information about the processes in the ongoing changes in the political and social system. From this point in time the newspapers were to perform an apologetic role toward the State and its politics, influence the Polish people's attitudes and mobilize people to cooperate with the state. The communist authority thought that newspapers had a special and a significant influence on implementing the new model of policy in the area of culture. The goal of this article is to describe achievements in the area of music life during the period of 1945-1955 and the way it was described in the Kielce newspapers during that time. The problems that were discussed then took into account the existing political conditions. The article analyzes publications about subject of music that appeared in the "Gazeta Kielcka", "Dziennik Kielecki" and "Dziennik Powszechny" dailies; in "Cychry", a monthly periodical devoted to literary and cultural achievements; and in a dialy newspaper "Słowo Ludu". This study also includes the official periodical issued by the Episcopal Curia named "Kielecki Przegląd Diecezjalny" (Kielce Diocese Review) as well as a weekly "Świt", which was published by the Provincial Committee of the Polish United Workers Party in Kielce
