Summary

This paper provides an introduction to the problems of computer systems of legal information, particularly the application of computers to the needs of legal information, and in future also to creating and administering law. Attempts of computerization of different areas of law initiated since the 1970s are discussed. Among the computer systems of legal information, one of the specialist subsystems of the national System of Scienific, Technical and Organizational Information, SINTO, is presented, i.e. the System of Legislative Information, SIL. Besides, the paper discusses independent databases, such as: Register of Legal Acts - RAP, Seym (Diet), Senate, Jurisdiction, Catalogue of Legal Literature - KLP and INFO-LEX.
