Summary

The article, based on the manuscript of the memoirs written by Tadeusz Bartosz, a long-time journalist in Kielce, is a gloss to the history of journalism in the Polish People's Repoublic. It presents the milien of Kielce journalists in the early 1950s and the mechanism of its origin. The process of becoming journalists by young men from the working class, for whom the new political reality created an opportunity of social advancement, is shown by the example of Bartosz. The article has the character of both source material and interpretation. The subjective record of the author of memoirs has gained objectivity by subjecting it to a critical assessment during research procedure.
