Title | SPECIAL ISSUES OF "BLUSZCZ" IN THE INTERWAR PERIOD. PART I |
Numer | 8 |
The article discusses special issues of the Warsaw weekly magazine for women named "Bluszcz", (Ivy). The main readers were the wives of landowners, members of "intelligentsia" and city residents. This paper continued the traditions of "Bluszcz" established in 1865. During the 1918-1939 period, the "Bluszcz" paper included articles dealing with socio-cultural matters and was actively involved in rebuilding and creating the new Polish state. It presented women and their problems resulting from their involvement and participation in creating all aspects of life: that is social, cultural, political and economic life in Poland. The author of this publication formulates a definition for a "special issue". In the case of "Bluszcz" it was usually an issue devoted to a single subject such as a geographical region, or an anniversary of some significant historical event or even the anniversary of the magazine. Such issue typically contained articles written by experts in the matter or people connected with the described geographical area. The first part of the article is about historical and patriotic matters. The second part (in the next issue) is about the special issue analysis, it analyzes single subject issues, issues about geographical areas and a jubilee of 70th year of the magazine's existence in 1935.
