Summary

In 2005 in Vilna, Jan Sienkiewicz founded a periodical "Wiadomości Brukowe" [Cobblestone News], which refers to the publication of the same title which operated in Lithuania in the years 1816-1822. In spite of the outflow of years there are still a number of unsolved social and moral problems in the Polish community living in Lithuania. In the intention of the editors the new periodical was to be a discussion and opinion-making forum. Creators of the magazine undertook a difficult task to reach all social strata with the proposal of the support of all initiatives aiming at improving the state. Unfortunately, the magazine appeared to be an ephemera whose short life aroused only anxiety in the community, without bringing measurable advantages.
