Summary

Groups of true reading and associations of planned readership institute a means of enhancing reading promotion as was accomplished in the initial stages of the People's Republic of Poland.The cam-
paign was coordinated by the Ministry of education through the department of Adult education under
the auspices of the Distrct educational Offices. The subject of this article was based on the territory
under the jurisdiction of the Lublin District education Office. The survey period covered the years
1945-1948 when the pre-war educational movement restoration was embarked upon. The time period
chosen for the article was also based on the specificity of the period covering the years 1945-1948,
as organizations of pre-war origins still participated in educational activities: Union of Rural youth
"Wici" and the Association of the Workers University (TUR). The perculiarity of the years 1945-1948
was also attributed to the use of methodical publications in reading promotion before 1939,relatively
their post-war editions.
